Jeeva plays the protagonist Kottaisamy in Thenavettu. The word refers to a person who does not alter his principles for anyone or anything and has absolute clarity about the path he is taking, according to director VV Kadhir.

Kottaisamy comes to Chennai in search of a job. He is untouched by the city’s glamour and pretentiousness. He encourages the good but does not hesitate to stand up against wrong. When peaceful overtures fail, he bravely resorts to his own methods.

One day, the hero is witness to a gruesome murder. He gets to know that the criminal Kailasam is behind it. He bides his time while gathering more information on the murderer and goes back to his village in the meanwhile. But Kailasam does not want to leave an eyewitness around and sends his henchmen behind Kottaisamy. The latter throws them out of his village quite easily. Does Kottaisamy get around to teaching Kailasam a lesson or not?

Poonam Bajwa plays the female lead in the film. Srikanth Deva has composed music while Vetri handles the camera.
